Overview
A points-tested permanent visa for skilled workers that does NOT require state nomination or a job offer. You submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect, and the highest-scoring candidates in your occupation receive invitations in monthly rounds.
Eligibility
- ✓Occupation on the eligible skilled occupation list (MLTSSL)
- ✓Positive skills assessment in your occupation
- ✓Points test: at least 65 points (age, English, experience, education…)
- ✓Competent English minimum (IELTS 6.0); more points for 7.0+/8.0+
- ✓Under 45 years old at invitation
Step-by-step
Check your occupation is on the MLTSSL for 189, then obtain a positive skills assessment from the relevant authority (e.g. ACS for ICT, Engineers Australia, CPA for accounting, VETASSESS for general).
